QR Code for product activation: Google Fiber
It will use QR codes and the Google Play store to change your relationship with set-top boxes and routers: Medin says that those boxes will have a QR code that a technician will scan. The box then sends its activation information to the cloud and the box is now provisioned and activated for that customer. Eventually consumers will be able to do this for themselves, perhaps after they order a box on Google’s Play store.
We covered this earlier as well:

At Qryptal, we always look forward to working with customers to implement such workflow use-cases of QR Codes like product activation, warranty registration etc. This can really streamline installation, lower costs and also improve end-user experience.

Product registration with QR Codes
Scanning the code yields:

Looks like Google is planning to put a unique QR Code on each device to make it easy for their users to register the device. After registration it should be easy to provide a manual or quick start guide - something which we all end up misplacing after installing a product.
Good use case!
