Mobile Enabling Industrial Products with QR Codes

Here is another example of using QR Codes in Industrial Products:

via diessel.com
GEA Diessel introduced the new QR codes in response to requests by customers who wanted to be able to access specific information quickly and easily.
This is a great use case: providing authoritative information instantly. For a business with many products, it takes time for customers to locate the right information. With a QR Code, the customer gets precise up-to-date information, right on the spot!

With thousands of products, building such a system can take a lot of resources - that is why we offer Qryptal Database integrated Mobile Pages to make this easy.

The solution can be enhanced further by adding the service request module: Customer scans QR Codes and not only gets the right information but can also request for service and include photos and videos of the issues they are facing.

The service team would not only know exactly which product, serial # but also have a much better understanding of the issue. Here is a demo code for this:

QR Code for product activation: Google Fiber

Media_httpgigaom2file_onjrb

It will use QR codes and the Google Play store to change your relationship with set-top boxes and routers: Medin says that those boxes will have a QR code that a technician will scan. The box then sends its activation information to the cloud and the box is now provisioned and activated for that customer. Eventually consumers will be able to do this for themselves, perhaps after they order a box on Google’s Play store.

We covered this earlier as well:

At Qryptal, we always look forward to working with customers to implement such workflow use-cases of QR Codes like product activation, warranty registration etc. This can really streamline installation, lower costs and also improve end-user experience.

Product registration with QR Codes

Scanning the code yields:

Looks like Google is planning to put a unique QR Code on each device to make it easy for their users to register the device. After registration it should be easy to provide a manual or quick start guide - something which we all end up misplacing after installing a product.

Good use case!

QR Codes on engines for manual

"Once you scan the QR code with your smart phone, you will be directed immediately to information that is specific for the engine that's on your mower. Searching for your model will not be necessary," said J.P. Benjamins, product marketing manager for Briggs & Stratton.
QR Codes on products is a great way to provide guides, manuals, updates and warranty information. This was one of the first use cases targeted by Qryptal.
